POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Switchgear Services Business Manager, this position provides an excellent opportunity to enhance professional growth and development within an expanding service line of business. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical support to the existing service business and Vertiv service customers on all aspects of LV & MV Switchgear, Transformers & Busbar, they will also be responsible for supporting the SSBM in the development and deployment of Vertiv Services EMEA MV/HV Service offering.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support for all internal and external enquiries received into the services team for LV/MV Switchgear, Transformers and Busbar Systems, supporting the sales team in defining customer needs and compiling suitable technical solutions.
- On occasion attend pre-sales calls with clients and customers to gain a good understanding of requirements with the aim to make this process as efficient as possible.
- Where necessary, attend in-person at client site to discuss/clearly define proposed works.
- Where required, review sales quotations for technical correctness prior to issue to customer.
- Support management in the development of MV service offering, ensuring that any offering meets the correct standards and regulations.
- Take ownership of complex/long term technical issues on customer sites, working with local Technical Management where required.
- Provide general technical support to Technical Managers within local operating units.
- Support management with enabling sufficient MV Services deployment in targeted countries/operating units for service, commissioning, repair, modification & upgrade of LV/MV Switchgear, Transformers and Busbar Systems.
- Support management and Academy teams in the development of training material and training programmes for technical and sales teams.
- Ensure all on site working practices are compliant with best in industry safety procedures and are legally compliant.
- Work with product development teams during product development and NPDI processes to ensure correct serviceability of new products and offerings.
- Work with service offering teams to ensure that all service scopes of work are technically correct and in line with current OEM and regulatory requirements.
- Work with management to ensure that approved test equipment and tooling are current and fit for purpose.
- Investigate and report on RCA’s where equipment fails in the field.
- Create and maintain detailed technical library and knowledge resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full driving licence.
- Electrical Engineering Background
- Knowledge of PC Software
- HND/HNC or equivalent qualification
- Experience in Troubleshooting
- Time served or equivalent.
- Electrical Trade background would be advantageous.
- Experience in working within an electrical service environment.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Have excellent technical knowledge of LV & MV switchgear, transformers, and Busbar systems.
- Have excellent knowledge of engineering technical drawings.
- Have an excellent attitude to safety and be fully conversant with current safety regulations.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Be a self-starter, highly motivated individual who takes ownership for their role.
- Be an efficient organiser and be able to manage multiple priorities.
- Prioritise workload to meet Customer/Client expectations.

- Be prepared to travel as and when required as part of your role.
