We have grown rapidly in recent years to over $600m of assets with continued growth anticipated across our operating properties and development projects in Western Australia and Australia generally. Aspen currently has over 40% of its assets in WA.
Aspen Group has been highly successful over the last several years and has the financial capacity to grow rapidly.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, results oriented, and hands-on development professional who will be involved across a number of projects including; refurbish-to-rent and build-to-rent developments, land development, residential communities and retirement / land lease / lifestyle communities.
This role will be in Western Australia and provide the opportunity to learn and grow professionally within the broader Aspen Group and working closely with the WA operations manager, reporting directly to an experienced senior management team based in Sydney. This role is suited to someone who is well organised, results oriented and able to work independently and provide clear and concise reporting.
Aspen is a broad-based provider and developer of quality accommodation on competitive terms across Australia and is actively seeking to help solve Australia’s housing affordability issues. In Western Australia, Aspen’s portfolio currently includes:
516 Apartments over 17 buildings in Perth Metro – between 2021 and 2024 Aspen purchased and refurbished all apartments under a refurbish-to-rent model. All the buildings are located within a 6km radius of the Perth CBD. This portfolio has opportunities to develop vacant land with new build-to-rent product.
Residential Housing Portfolio – In 2019 Aspen purchased 84 residential homes within the Southern and Northern suburbs of Perth. Following a re-positioning and refurbishment of this portfolio Aspen has been divesting assets in this portfolio – this process is almost complete.
Meadowbrooke Lifestyle Village – Over 55’s land lease community located in Boyanup. This site includes 181 approved Land Lease sites. A home construction and sales program will need to be managed.
Sierra Lifestyle Village – Over 45’s land lease community located 45 mins East of Perth in Wundowie. This site includes 205 approved Land Lease sites. A home construction and sales program will need to be managed.
Over 55s Living Village (Viveash) – In 2024 Aspen purchased 36 dwellings from the local Council and is currently undertaking a refurbish-to-rent program that should complete by April 2025. Following that further opportunities may exist to develop land on the site for build-to-rent product.
Mandurah Gardens Estate – this is a mature land lease community where some infill opportunities are available.
Aspen Karratha Village (Karratha) – A 180 room facility located in Karratha to service the corporate worker and tourism market. No major development opportunities exist at this asset
Further Acquisitions – Aspen is actively seeking new opportunities in WA
Reporting to the Asset Management Team and CEO, you will be responsible for:
Continuing the implementation and delivering a development pipeline
Detailed and regular reporting to senior management
Managing contractors and consultants to maintain timelines and deliver outcomes
Managing stakeholders including councils, regulators and utility providers
Investigating and resolving complex problems with the assistance of management
Input and analysis to assist management with future acquisitions in Western Australia
Providing strategic direction about development efficiencies and working with operations staff to achieve acceptable returns
Working with sales and marketing staff (internal and external) to help ensure the development pipeline is in line with customer demand
Regular site attendance to developments to ensure smooth progress

The position’s remuneration will be determined based on the individual applicant’s experience and skillset but will comprise a base salary plus a performance-based bonus structure including Short and Long Term incentive schemes. We are looking for candidates with a minimum 3 years’ experience in property/construction related fields (eg. property, building, project management, architecture, civil construction or engineering). We believe this role could be suited to an either an experienced development professional or a someone with talent looking to make a step up in their career.
The role will require regular travel around the development projects in WA with a desk and office to be provided at one of our assets or via an office-sharing provider.
We will be shortlisting and interviewing immediately with a view to appointing the person in the near term.
