ALC Lawyers is a specialist Australian immigration law firm. The firm was formed just over a year ago and, following a hugely successful first 12 months of trading, we are now looking to grow our team by hiring a Senior Immigration Lawyer or Senior Registered Migration Agent.

Our client base predominantly consists of businesses who hire skilled workers (employer sponsored visas) and also high net worth or highly talented personnel from overseas who are pursuing permanent residency (global talent visas).

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced lawyer or registered migration agent with a very strong background in managing 482/186 and global talent visa processes.

Although the 482 visa will be replaced by Skills in Demand Visa, and global talent visa will be replaced by the National Innovation Visa, the expectation is these new visa programs will be largely similar in nature to their predecessors. The clients we work with will remain the same, and this role at ALC Lawyers will be trusted with a high level of autonomy to manage application processes from start to finish.

Duties will include:

• Dealing directly with corporate clients to manage employer sponsored visa processes
• Strategizing on best visa pathways for clients
• Liaising with high achievers and high net worth individuals for National Innovation Visa processes
• Writing excellent legal submissions on behalf of clients for National Innovation Visas

About you

We are looking for someone with strong academic background (ideally in law), and at least 6 years’ experience of immigration practice.

1. Employer sponsored visas: are 2nd nature to you. 
   1. You are highly experienced in all aspects on both business and visa applicant side. 
   2. You follow efficient procedures to ensure applications are lodged in timely fashion
   3. You can handle occasional complex queries which require strategic planning for the client
2. National Innovation Visas:
   1. You have a commercial mindset and are business savvy
   2. You can communicate clearly with senior business personnel
   3. You have outstanding English literacy and legal submission writing skills
3. Communication skills:
   1. You are comfortable having regular telephone and MS Teams calls with clients
   2. You do not use unnecessary legal jargon when speaking with clients, but instead prefer simple communication and terminologies which are easy for clients to understand
   3. You are experienced in managing client expectations with respect to timelines, etc.

Remuneration

We will pay above market rate salary for the right person. We also offer a very attractive individual bonus incentive ($10-20k per quarter) which our current team have been regularly hitting.

Working arrangements

We have a Sydney CBD office (near Central Station) which we share with a technology business. It is a very relaxed working environment with a sociable atmosphere – people are dressed casually most days, and the office is equipped with several meetings rooms, stocked fridge, snacks, pool table etc.

We have no problem with remote working and currently have staff working from different locations around Australia.

We also understand that people have lives outside of work, and we can accommodate flexible hours as required.
