Overview:
At Paychex, our cloud-based infrastructure solutions continue to grow and modernize as we expand our hybrid on-premises and cloud footprint. Candidates will be responsible for troubleshooting, building, configuring, and maintaining cloud technologies and platforms for all major cloud providers. They will create, maintain, and provide a cloud infrastructure framework inheriting business and operational standards, provide technical support during critical and non-critical business hours, and proactively identify and automate resolution to availability and performance failures throughout the environments. This position will expose the candidate to all server based operating systems (Linux, Windows) and cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP. It will require the development of skills to support, administer, and engineer hybrid on-premises datacenter and cloud solutions. The candidate will be exposed to Continuous Delivery concepts such as Version Control, Continuous Integration, Testing (smoke, sanity, regression), Automation, DevOps pipelines, and Orchestration to deliver and support IT applications at Paychex. Automation technologies including Jenkins, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Git, Artifactory, and many more are the means to achieve cloud platform’s goals and objectives. Scripting languages (Bash, Powershell, Ruby, Python) are leveraged to extend features/functionality within our current toolsets and further our “as a service” capabilities. The candidate will leverage the latest technologies that Microsoft, Amazon, and Google offer that are critical to delivering Paychex’s IT cloud infrastructure services. Candidates will participate in the control and maintenance of Paychex’s critical certificate and PKI management platforms. The candidate will partner and collaborate with all facets of Paychex IT including Infrastructure, Security, Networking, Software Developers and Testers, Build and Release Engineers, Solution Leads, Scrum Masters, and many more.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains a high level of understanding of the following areas: o Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) o Systems automation and deployment tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) o Linux and Windows Operating Systems o Networking and Storage principles o Process Automation, DevOps, SDLC pipelines, and System Lifecycle management o Certificate Management
- Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and support of infrastructure deployments for cloud systems and applications
- Participates and provides technical leadership on moderate to complex technical projects, or business issues. Collaborates with IT teams and customers on the following: o Business requirement gathering and documentation o Functional and process design development o Proof of concept, or pilot initiatives o Automated infrastructure testing o Technology and product testing o Defines support procedures, SLA’s, and restoration objectives in the event of a loss of service
- Defines and establishes cloud infrastructure consumption standards and ensures compliance
- Manages and oversees code development for creation of complex terraform modules
- Responsible for 24x7x365 technical support. This includes acting as an on-call resource during non-business hours on a rotating basis, participating in Incident Response, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity testing or execution
- Communicates project and task status, progress, and risks to management
- Demonstrates business understanding of critical application transactions and related configuration options
- Defines and establishes security and infrastructure compliance requirements
- Mature understanding of cloud provider cost implications when enabling infrastructure solutions
- Understands emerging cloud technologies and automation trends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field – Preferred
- 5 years of experience in Cloud experience, IT Systems and Administration and Process management, and DevOps experience.
- Maintains ahigh level of understanding of the following areas:Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Systems automation and deployment tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)Linux and Windows Operating Systems.Networking and Storage principlesProcess Automation, Devops, SDLC pipelines, and System Lifecycle Management.
