O&M Signalling & Telecoms Expert – Qatar

CLIENT

Linum Consult’s client is a major company operating out of the Middle East. They are currently seeking an Operations and Maintenance Expert with a background in signalling and telecoms on large-scale metro and LRT projects to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supporting the Operations & Maintenance team with the investigation, root cause analysis, and failure attribution of safety and maintenance related defects and subsequent engineering solutions to ensure contractual performance and reliability targets are achieved and maintenance practices implemented
• Supporting the maintenance practices assessments, ensuring development of maintenance strategies for planning, execution, and management of maintenance functions and assets’ performance are in line with the company’s strategic asset management plan
• Ensuring all systems adhere to all relevant safety regulations and industry standards such as CENELEC (EN 50126/8/9, EN 50129)
• Leading the design reviews and integration of advanced signalling and telecom systems, including CBTC, ETCS, and other automated control systems, tailored for metro and tram projects
• Working closely with regulatory bodies, engineering teams, project managers, and external parties to coordinate system integration and resolve technical issues

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar, ideally with a masters and a membership to a relevant professional engineering association
• Around 10 years’ experience in the rail industry, particularly metro and tram systems
• Demonstrable background in signalling and telecom maintenance, construction, and design, with extensive knowledge on GOA4 Systems, for rail systems
• Expert knowledge of rail industry standards, codes, and best practices
• Experience with rail-specific technologies, including rolling stock, signalling and communication systems
• Thorough understanding of the rail signalling systems basics, and knowledge of driverless trains, traction power supply distribution, track, control and communication systems, their functions and maintenance
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and analytical skills
• Previous experience in the Middle East would be preferred.
