fatsecret is seeking a talented Analytics Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of nutrition and weight management technology. You will be at the heart of transforming raw data into actionable insights by creating reliable, scalable, and business-friendly data models. This role will focus on building and maintaining the analytics layer of our data infrastructure, working closely with the Head of Data and Analytics and stakeholders to deliver clean, accurate, and ready-to-use data. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide technical guidance and expertise. The ideal candidate is passionate about data engineering and analytics, has strong problem-solving skills and is a collaborative team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test and maintain ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes using dbt Cloud, Python, Airbyte, and Rudderstack that integrate data from various sources, including AWS services, MySQL, MSSQL and third parties.
  • Optimise and maintain our data warehouse in Snowflake, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Design and build self-service data solutions and dashboards using data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility through robust transformation pipelines.
  • Work closely with the Data & Analytics team to define data requirements and standards.
  • Document data models, processes, and business logic for transparency and maintainability.
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices, tools, and technologies to improve data workflows.
  • Bonus: Leverage AWS or similar cloud technologies to optimise and enhance the analytics infrastructure.

What you bring to the table

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with Snowflake or similar data warehouses.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, ETL tools and techniques, and data warehousing.
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data processing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) for creating dashboards and reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Product, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

Bonus if you have

  • Familiarity with AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Lambda) or similar cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in dbt Cloud for building and managing data transformations.
  • Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure management.
  • Knowledge of containerisation and container orchestration tools.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Experience in the nutrition, health, or weight management industry.

Our tools & team

  • We are building a modern data platform from the ground up. Our stack consists of Snowflake, Airbyte, dbt, and Tableau. We are building on top of AWS using Terraform. We are open to adding new tools and are happy to train the correct person for the role.
  • You will be working directly with the Head of Data & Analytics.

If you are an Analytics Engineer with a passion for designing and implementing scalable and reliable data platforms, and you want to make a positive impact on people’s lives, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at fatsecret by sending your resume to data@fatsecret.com.
