We’re on the lookout for a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager (Data) to be part of our growing team.

Overview

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sales in the Technology Consulting space, a deep understanding of the South African market, and a passion for promoting innovative technology services.

As a Business Development Manager for Data Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in driving our sales strategy and revenue growth. You will be at the forefront of engaging with new and existing clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored data solutions that solve complex business challenges. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for technology and a strong understanding of the data solutions landscape.

We aim to build one of the strongest Engineering capabilities within Africa and abroad and the Business Development Manager for Data Solutions will help us achieve this.

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary responsibilities of the Business Development Manager (Data), but the role will require flexibility and adaptation as the business expands.

Sales Strategy

  • Develop and implement a Sales strategy aligned with the cloudandthings.io business objectives.
  • Identify key markets and opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market developments to identify potential areas of growth.
  • Utilize market insights to refine and enhance the sales strategy.
  • Execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.

Business Development

  • Lead the acquisition of new clients and partnerships.
  • Effectively communicate the cloudandthings.io value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the Data space.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in the industry.
  • Understand client needs and tailor solutions that align with their business goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies that enhance brand visibility and market reach.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking events to promote cloudandthings.io services and build a professional network.
  • Meet and exceed revenue targets through strategic planning and effective sales techniques.

Account Management

  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, understanding their business challenges and how our solutions and services can assist them.
  • Collaborate with clients and the rest of the cloudandthings.io team to identify requirements, develop solutions, create proposals, and implement awesome solutions for your clients.
  • Understand and anticipate clients’ business needs and objectives.
  • Communicate client needs and demands to the management and engineering teams.
  • Write and compile proposals for engagements with clients.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure delivery of outstanding service.
  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements.
  • Develop new business with existing clients and identify areas of improvement.
  • Prepare reports on account status and activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Marketing, Sales or other commercial roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field. (Preferred, but not required.)
  • Proven sales experience, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Strong understanding of the technology consulting market and digital solutions.
  • Deep understanding of data services and the ability to articulate their value to a non-technical and technical audience.
  • Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge related to Cloud, Data, Security, and Software Technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
  • Willingness to continuously develop and learn in order to stay ahead
  • Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
