- Band 4, $70,593 per annum + 11.5% Superannuation
- Based between Civic Centre, Doncaster & Depot, Doncaster East
Following an internal secondment we have a unique fixed term opportunity for a creative, enthusiastic problem-solver to gain experience in local government communications.
What could an average day as a Communications Officer look like?Your day could include setting up for a hybrid in-person and online team meeting, taking photographs for a social media post, ordering and arranging payment for any communication related items, such as new outdoor event banners, and writing stories for our staff newsletter.
Supporting the Engaged Communities Team, this person will:
- provide administrative support including financial admin
- engage external suppliers
- coordinate the placement and proofing of advertising material
- assist in social media and digital channels monitoring and maintenance
- maintain Council’s image library for the organisation
- assist with writing and editing content for our internal and external publications
- be the first point of contact for customers and provide prompt, courteous and accurate responses to enquiries and requests
- be an active team member.
About you and the role
Reporting to the Manager Engaged Communities this position supports the Engaged Communities team in raising the image of Manningham Council through enhanced communication and engagement opportunities in line with organisational objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Skills and Experience- A Diploma or Degree in Creative Industries (such as: Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations) or previous work experience with a role in basic content development and development of basic communications plans.
- Well-developed computer literacy with some exposure to design software.
- Passionate about all things digital with solid knowledge and understanding of social media.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to communicate with employees, clients, and members of the community to resolve minor issues as they arise.
