Communications Specialist (Remote)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create effective communication strategies
- Coordinate external and internal communications flow (memos, newsletters, blogs, etc.)
- Design sketches of mass media announcements
- Write content for SC&A’s external website and intranet
- Plan events, seminars, and press conferences
- Develop press releases and manage media inquiries and arrange interviews, statements, etc. as needed
- Build long-term relationships with influencers and key stakeholders
- Collaborate with practice leads and corporate leadership to develop content for marketing and external distribution
- Serve as a facilitator and provide solutions for peaceful resolution of disputes
Requirements:
- Previous working experience as a communications specialist for 1-3 years
- Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading and editing
- Excellent portfolio with a proven track record of successful project management examples
- Photo and video-editing skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
- Experience in web design and content production is a big plus
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or similar relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent sales and customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat
- This position may support federal contracts and the incumbent will be expected to pass background suitability screening by SC&A and our government clients. US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Salary Range:
$50,000 – $80,000 commensurate with education and experience.

SC&A is a small business focused on energy and environmental consulting to federal, state, and local government agencies and the private sector. Our background includes radiological and nuclear safety and security, climate adaptation, air quality, and emergency management and preparedness. SC&A has offices in Arlington, VA; Chapel Hill, NC; and Germantown, MD. The position could be based in any of these locations or could be based anywhere in the United States and work remotely.
