We believe that the old-fashioned sheet music industry has come to a point where it needs to be renewed. Through Flat for Education and our different products, we define a new way to write, teach and consume written music.

We are looking for a full-time Country Manager to work on scaling the Japanese Market.

Context

You will be joining a radical team of doers, fully distributed. All founders are developers, we believe in the power of good products. We have launched to date 4 growing and profitable products, gathering an active and engaged community of more than 6M users:

  • Flat: our music score editor with web and mobile versions.
  • Flat for Education: our music teaching platform aiming at making music education playful and engaging.
  • Music Snippet: our music score add-ons for Google Docs and Google Slides.
  • Flat Embed: our music score technology available for everyone to use.

What you will do

You will be responsible for scaling Flat for Education in the Japanese Market. Its success will be your main objective! We have spent the last few years localizing our education product, and the market is growing, but we need to accelerate growth! This role will include GTM strategy, sales, marketing, and customer success.

You will work primarily autonomously, but also collaborating with our Sales and engagement team lead as well as other stakeholders to push the JP market forward.

At the same time you will be working directly with our Director of Sales to build out the GTM strategy and nurture out global growth.

🎩 Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement market entry and growth strategies tailored to the Japanese education sector.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities to drive market share and revenue growth.
  • Align country operations with the global vision and objectives of Flat for Education.

Sales and Business Development:

  • Lead sales initiatives to promote Flat for Education’s solutions to schools, universities, and educational institutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and government agencies.
  • Achieve sales targets and expand the customer base within the region.

Marketing and Go-to-Market (GTM):

  • Develop and execute localized marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and product adoption.
  • Collaborate with the global marketing team to ensure consistency and effectiveness of messaging.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor activities, and emerging trends.

Customer Support and Success:

  • Oversee customer support activities to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Use existing feedback mechanisms to gather customer insights for product improvement.
  • Provide training and workshops to educators and institutions on using the platform effectively.

🛠 What you need to be a good fit 🛠

You will be a good fit for the role if you have:

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or management roles within the education or technology sectors in Japan.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and achieving sales targets.
  • Experience with SaaS products or educational technology solutions is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills:
  • Native proficiency in Japanese.
  • Conversational English, both written and spoken.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of the Japanese education system and market dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute plans effectively.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.

For this role we would like the candidate to be primarily based in Japan. We are a fully distributed company so you will work from wherever suits you best as long as you have a network connection good enough to support video calls.
