Environmental Project Manager | Sequence Systems | United States

Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a capable Senior Environmental Planner to head up NEPA permitting, and compliance activities related to infrastructure projects in throughout the southwest (Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and surrounding areas).

This is currently one of the most exciting opportunities in the niche environmental industry. We are seeking a project manager capable of engaging in a variety of efforts with emphasis on solar, onshore wind, transportation and other infrastructure.

Our client, a well-respected and growing regional environmental compliance and biological services consulting firm with multiple branch operations, is significantly expanding its compliance practice and looking to advance its operations here in the west. With a large backlog and pipeline of work and projects we are ideally seeking an individual with environmental compliance and NEPA experience.

General requirements of the role include:

  • Lead technical and report efforts for a variety of NEPA and compliance projects.
  • Develop new clients; work with existing managers to expand existing client relationships.
  • Prepare proposals and lead teams through county, state, and federal permit processes.
  • Undertake agency coordination, leading technical teams and contractors providing technical deliverable.
  • Carry out permitting strategy in conjunction with permitting personnel for complex projects in a dynamic work environment, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and have a flexible approach to problem solving.

The idea individual would have 5 to 10+ years of experience with environmental assessments with federal, state and local regulatory compliance and permitting with bachelor’s or graduate degree in environmental sciences, urban/regional planning, environmental policy, natural resources, environmental studies, and/or related field.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative and progressive organization that has significant resources. A place where a motivated, self-starter interested in advancing their career and able/willing to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is dominated by realistic expectations would find a long-term home.

Our client offers a very competitive salary and benefits package, including medical/dental/vision, vacation and sick leave, professional membership and registration fees, etc. Bonus and profit-sharing opportunities are also available. Essentially, anything can be structured for the right individual.

The company believes that its staff are its most important assets. They have a well-defined corporate that values individuals as resources. The organization has loyal employees who have been with the firm for many years. They have watched it grow from a fledgling organization to one that has developed and built a larger regional footprint. And as a more mid-sized organization, still able with resources and able to compete with larger national and global firms, it is a place where employees don’t become lost as impersonal numbers.

Their approach is to solicit – indeed to expect – input from each of their employees. They tell us that they foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and encourage the free exchange of ideas to remain a vibrant, thriving company. Leadership believes that this unique culture has resulted in the company having some of the industry’s most engaged employees.

This carries over to benefits as well as rewards for hard work. Beyond salary and bonus/commissions based on performance and metrics, this full-time direct hire position offers an extremely strong benefits plan, including medical/dental/vision, 401k, life insurance, bonus, profit sharing, vacation and sick leave, etc. The roles require occasional travel to varied client sites within the region but are primarily local regarding daily efforts (unlikely to be overnight away from home on numerous occasions).

Ideally, the individual would be based in Arizona, or potentially New Mexico or Nevada, but leadership is open to remote work for anyone with the applicable skill set and knowledgebase who is able to engage on efforts within the region in a remote or hybrid capacity. The organization would also be able to absorb an individual with small practice or work in hand and reward for that association.
