Frontend Engineer (Remote)

MetLife Legal Plans is currently hiring a Frontend Engineer for our growing Technology Department.

This position will be fully remote, and the ideal candidate may be located anywhere in the continental United States.

This position will report into our Lead Full Stack Developer.

A day in the life of a Frontend Engineer at MetLife Legal Plans:

As a Frontend Engineer, you will build insurance tech and legal tech web applications. You will work with technologies such as but not limited to React, Nextjs, Material-UI, and React testing library.

Our technology team is a tight-knit group that is passionate about user happiness, security, automation, and open-source software. We value attitude and work ethic above technical credentials. Building new technology is a messy business, so you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the selection of technologies, architectures, and designs for our client facing systems. You will write the software that defines these systems and continue to adapt and support it as our business grows.

This role requires expertise in software development, with advanced knowledge of modern web development practices. You should be familiar with best practices as well as cutting-edge solutions. You will be responsible for building software, reviewing the work of other software engineers, and translating business goals into software development requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in CS, MIS, or equivalent preferred.

5+ years’ experience building web applications

3+ years of React experience

3+ years of hands-on experience building solutions for customer-facing applications.

Experience in technology research & development methods and tools, while demonstrating ability to work on multi-disciplined efforts.

Knowledge of accessibility standards and techniques for creating inclusive web experiences.

Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliable functionality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with modern web development tools and frameworks, including; Django, Postgres Docker, and AWS.

Travel:

This position requires up to 5% travel.
