Blooket started as a high school project and has grown to be a tool used by millions of students and teachers around the world! We specialize in creating gamified experiences that students love and empowering educators by giving them tools to create meaningful learning opportunities in and outside of their classrooms.
We’re a small team focused on building the best product we can. We like to work hard and move fast to deliver the best experience for our incredible user base. Your Role
There’s a lot going on at Blooket and you’ll be helping to architect and build out core backend systems that help millions of learners. Here are some things that includes:
- Develop server-side code (microservices) using Go
- Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement APIs
- Build out tools and libraries for reusable backend functionalities
- Optimize backend functionality and database calls
- Write tests and collect analytics for new and existing features
- Architect, develop, build, monitor, and scale our backend system
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a backend specialist who is very confident in building out scalable APIs and microservices with Go. To help ensure you’re a fit, here are some qualifications:
- At least 3 years in a backend software development focused role
- Deep proficiency in server side code, specifically with Go
- Experience with Redis and MongoDB for storing and retrieving data
- Experience building analytics reports based on backend usage and performance
- Experience writing tests for Go applications
- Experience with containerized environments and build tools
- Experience building out tools to be shared by multiple microservices
- Proficiency in working with Protocol Buffers and gRPC
- Demonstrated ability to architect systems and build scalable solutions to problems
- Knowledge and passion for optimizing and improving applications from small teams
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Excitement about the impact your work could have on the lives of students and teachers every day
- Bonus: Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Cloudflare
- Bonus: Experience handling penetration tests and other compliance measures
Benefits & Compensation
- Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $140,000- $260,000 depending on work experience, performance, and other factors evaluated during the hiring process.
