The Partner Engineering team works with the leading siliconcompanies to optimise Ubuntu to get the most from each new chip. Our goalis to collaborate with specialist engineers from our partners to integratenext-generation features and performance enhancements for upcominghardware, while also ensure a common operating experience for theirusers.This role is a fast-paced, problem-solving role that’s challengingyet very exciting. The right candidate must be resourceful, articulate, andable to deliver on a wide variety of solutions across server and datacenter technologies.As a Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical you will lead anengineering team that works across the full Linux server stack from kernelto AI workloads, to optimise Ubuntu for the latest silicon. You will managerelationships with our key technology partners by ensuring timely deliveryon agreed project milestones.As a lead for strong engineers, technical leadership and a solidbackground in software engineering is a must, so that you’re able tochallenge and grow your team members. Code reviews and architecturalleadership are part of the job. As manager, the commitment to healthyengineering practices, documentation, quality and performance optimisationare equally important technical responsibilities, as is the requirement forfair and clear management, and the obligation to ensure a high performingteam. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitatetechnical delivery, and work with your team on strategy and execution.Location: This is a Globally remote roleWhat your day will look likeLead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement the bestUbuntu integration for the latest server-class hardware platforms andsoftware stacksEngage with commercial partners to deliver a delightful, optimised,first class Ubuntu experience on their platformsDevelop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, andfeedbackOversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreedproject milestonesEnsure an ongoing commitment to strict quality and reliabilitystandardsEngage with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on productarchitecture and roadmapsWork from home with global travel up to twice a year for up to twoweeksWhat we are looking for in youProven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu orDebianHigh quality software engineering with in-depth knowledge of C/C++ andPythonExperience with one or more of: Ubuntu – kernel and userspace,deb/snap packaging, embedded linux, QEMU/KVM and/or OVS/OVNExperience working directly with customers, going beyond resolvingtheir technical issues, to interpreting their business challenges andeffectively communicating how your solution will meet their needsExperience managing software engineers with a track record of planning,delivery and qualityEffective collaboration across multiple internal teams, building trustand delivering resultsWhat we offer youYour base pay will depend on various factors including your geographicallocation, level of experience, knowledge and skills.
