We are looking for a Program Attorney to join our team and help us develop and deliver educational programs for the D.C. Bar’s Communities (practice specialty groups). The ideal candidate will have a J.D. from an accredited ABA law school and experience managing multi-faceted programs and projects. They will also be a team player who is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with Communities volunteer leaders, program planners, and speakers to support and facilitate the development of program content and descriptions for publication and release.

Coordinate the development and publication of program materials, to include conducting internet research and acquiring copyright permissions.

Collaborate with other Communities staff as needed to review email marketing and communications for events and services, including additional social media and other forms of outreach.

Manage and staff programs, oversee set-ups, respond to member and volunteer requests, and supports day-of implementation, including logistics and registration as needed.

Serves as a staff liaison to the Communities Committee.

Adapts programs and presentations into different programming formats as needed.

Coordinates with outside organizations and individuals who submit program proposals for Communities program partner opportunities.

Collaborates with Communities’ and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) leaders to identify and develop topics for co-sponsored CLE courses.

Identifies, reviews and recommends educational programs for other Bar departments.

Attends Communities programs to develop supplemental course content and to evaluate effectiveness of Communities programming.

Conceptualizes and implements special projects that support the strategic direction of the D.C. Bar as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited ABA law school.

Active member of the D.C. Bar or eligible to become an active D.C. Bar member within two months of being hired.

Prior relevant work experience managing multi-faceted programs and projects.

Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

Proficient in database management and Microsoft 365.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be detail oriented and deadline driven. Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact with Bar members, volunteers, vendors, the public and Bar employees.

Must work well under pressure, possess excellent organizational abilities, and able to manage several priorities in a day.

Must be adaptable, creative, and self-motivated.

Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
