Job overview:
As the Regulatory Affairs Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring that every product the company sells meets relevant government legislation, and that consumer safety and efficacy are at the forefront of business activities. Our Regulatory Affairs Specialist will act as the critical liaison between the brand cross functional team members, the products we sell and the regulatory authorities by applying their scientific, business and regulatory expertise. Our Regulatory Affairs Specialist will be pivotal in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for our hair care products. This position will report to the Director Regulatory & Compliance.
This role has added expectations for leadership in the areas of project deliverables and external relationships as well as process improvements and a call to action on issues and problem solving. An established point of view on topics of regulatory risk, project leadership, and the global regulatory landscape and surveillance is also necessary.
This role acts independently to provide internal and external support and deliverables with the support of other team associates. Technical knowledge and research ability skills should be developed and utilized as a resource for the company and team.
Location: remote (must be based in the US)
Salary: $89,000 – $105,000
Responsibilities:
- Projects will be assigned with an expectation of project management which will be specific to company objectives.
- Support the maintenance of regulatory files and internal tracking databases to ensure prompt and accurate access to company regulatory information.
- Plan and develop clinical and consumer testing and interpret data for claims support, as well as take part in marketing activities for packaging or advertising approvals.
- Prepare all Product Information Files (PIF’s) related documents required for International registration submissions.
- Review formulas/ingredient lists to ensure labeling accurately reflects the product content.
- Review labeling to ensure compliance with domestic and international standards and regulations and consistency with regulatory submissions/approvals.
- Assists Director Regulatory & Compliance with maintenance of processes and procedures related to Regulatory Affairs activities, implementation of SOP’s, internal procedures and tools.
- Assists with investigations and execution of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) affecting Regulatory Affairs. ·
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle, from development to commercialization.
- Conduct regulatory assessments of product formulas, packaging, and labeling to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
- Assist with all aspects of US Federal and State product registrations and notifications (California Safe Cosmetic Program, MOCRA, etc.).
- Lead obtaining and tracking of Non-Government Organization (Leaping Bunny, Vegan, Clean Beauty, etc..) requirements and certifications.
- Assist in investigations and post market regulatory issues/activities
- Supervision of Regulatory Coordinator
Requirements:
- B.S. in Chemistry or related science
- 5 years of experience in a Regulatory Affairs position in hair care /personal care industries
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity of global cosmetic regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects.
- Exposure to regulatory processes and software to facilitate compliance
- Strong attention to detail; be able to multi-task
- Functional/Technical Expertise
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, notably, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of regulatory affairs principles, regulations, and guidelines, particularly in the cosmetic / personal care industry.
