We compete with giants and unicorns, striving to use our creativity and nimbleness to out innovate their huge overseas development shops. In our 30+ years in business, we’ve been able to claim many industry firsts but there’s a lot more work to be done.
In our never ending quest to make our platform even more modern, even more functional, and even more loved we are specifically looking for someone with experience developing software for the airline industry. If you know the difference between NDC and EDIFACT, and between a GDS and an OBT, we want to hear from you!
We can’t offer Foosball or free sushi, but we can offer a chance to make a difference. As part of the small but mighty AmTrav development team, you’ll be asked not just to implement ideas, but also to help craft them. You’ll play a big part in shaping the products on which you’re working. And the code you write will make it to production in weeks, not months or years!
As Part Of Your Job
- You’ll build web services that consume APIs from airlines, hotels, and other travel suppliers or intermediaries.
- You’ll creatively figure out how to address gaps in third party data by extrapolating info., merging from multiple sources, or otherwise coming up with the right hack to accomplish the objective for the user.
- You’ll troubleshoot production issues and bug reports and evaluate enhancement requests from customers and other stakeholders, scoping the requirements, and proposing technical solutions.
- You’ll contribute to design discussions and collaborate about new features and our product road map.
- You’ll help shape the future of our technology stack.
Requirements
- Experience: 8+ years as a software developer
- Industry: 2+ years in the travel industry, preferably working with NDC and/or GDS APIs
- Deep familiarity with RESTful APIs and Integrations
- Proficiency on the Microsoft technology stack (C#, IIS, ASP.NET, Web API, SQL Server, .Net Framework, Visual Studio)
- Demonstrated experience in complex software troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to communicate complex technical aspects succinctly
- Good understanding of software development patterns, lifecycle and processes
- A refusal to ever say “That can’t be done”
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React
- Understanding of CI/CD and Microsoft Azure
- Experience with Bitbucket/Jira/Confluence
Benefits
Our benefits include:
- Work from home or, if you prefer, from our office
- Competitive health, dental, accident, and life insurance plans
- Paid maternity/paternity leave
- 401K match
- Unlimited PTO
- IATAN Travel Agent membership with discounts on travel worldwide
Technically, we’re located in Agoura Hills, CA — meaning that’s where the empty building that we pay rent for is located. If you’re in the area, that’s great, but anywhere else is OK, too. We’re a casual bunch. We respect work-life balance and offer flexible schedules.
If this job description piques your interest and you think you’d be a good fit, please reach out with your resume. We’d love to hear from you!
