Senior Network Software Engineer (Remote)

Today’s technologies communicate across established protocols like HTTPS, SSH, etc. Attacks like phishing, browser exploits, malware downloads, and sensitive document leaks all happen on the web today. We’re building the next generation of networking, adding security on top of these protocols and their contents. We believe we can give companies the fabric to redefine how workstations, servers, and SaaS apps are allowed to communicate.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will help us build our network fabric. You’ll help us build our first product – redefining how employees browse the web. We’re looking for a senior engineer experienced in C++ who is familiar with networking fundamentals. You’ll report to our CTO who runs the engineering team. We are headquartered in California, but support remote work across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design and build performant security-critical services across web and systems.
• Track and communicate engineering work to the team to maximize collaboration and keep moving fast
• Plan and implement features across our product stack
• Participate in system design discussions and influence the architecture of our platform
• Implement security measures to ensure app integrity and anti-tamper capabilities
• Work collaboratively within the engineering organization and external parties to deliver projects.
• Be a subject matter expert in security and our product architecture, internally and for customers.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years experience writing high-performance and memory-safe C++ code
• Low-level knowledge of networking protocols and fundamentals, like TCP/IP, HTTPS, VPN/proxies, routing, etc
• Comfortable with the Linux command line and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with deploying applications with containers (preferably docker / k8s)
• Good understanding of system design and architecting solutions across various cloud providers (AWS, GCP, fly.io)

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-5+ years experience writing web application backends, preferably in Python
• Experience working with Windows Filtering Platform and/or MacOS Network Extensions and/or eBPF
• Experience working with Wireguard or other distributed VPNs / VPN replacements.
• Understanding of packet structures and how to decode, parse, and modify them
• Experience working with TLS, especially TLS interception / decryption proxies
• Experience designing and scaling server applications and architecture, preferably across multiple regions
• Experience using LLMs in product integrations / features
• Experience building a security product or agent
• Penetration testing experience (black box, white box, anything).
