The Program Manager, Upwork Accounting Transformation role will report to the Senior Director, Platform Controller. This position will be responsible for managing a set of cross-functional strategic projects and Accounting projects designed to drive scalability in our Accounting organization and support key business initiatives. They will also be responsible for helping to develop Program and Project Management best practices, including program schedules, project plans, andExecutive level status reporting.
The Program Manager must be adept at building relationships across functions (Engineering, Product, Finance, etc.), influencing stakeholders to prioritize programs / projects as needed, and helping decide on how to balance growth vs. scalability decision making. They should bring thought leadership to the role – defining how we approach Program Management in Accounting, while having the ability to connect dots on dependencies within the organization and “see around corners” to understand what will impact program / project success. They should also have a foundation with accounting concepts and a familiarity of financial reports (balance sheet, profit & loss statement, cash flow, etc.). This role will help build accounting requirements for our engineering groups and our Financial Systems team, ensuring we design & build relevant platform capabilities for Upwork’s long-term roadmap.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver program and project management for core priorities at Upwork
- Develop the framework for Program Management within Accounting, including how we align our requirements within product launch initiatives
- Become a key partner with relevant Engineering and Financial System teams
- Provide timely status updates to Leadership, including any risks to program / project timelines
- Develop initial best practices for the group as we begin to build Program Management capabilities within the Accounting function
What it takes to catch our eye:
- 8+ years of Program and Project Management experience
- Experience defining program requirements
- Experience in leading large, cross functional projects with multiple stakeholders (technical and non-technical)
- Experience with ERP platforms
- Experience working within FinTech organizations
Preferred Experience:
- 10+ years with 5+ years as a Program Manager
- Accounting, Finance or Related degree
- Relevant certifications (PMP, Agile, etc.)
- Experience with Oracle and ERP Migrations
- Experience with online marketplace organizations
The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $110,000 – $165,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
