Alcor Solutions is seeking to hire a Software Licensing Manager.
The position will be focused on maintaining accurate inventory of software licenses, coordinating license maintenance agreement renewals, conducting internal software license reviews, and creating metrics-based reports for Sr. Management and key stakeholder review.
The candidate will need to become familiar with Client’s contract landscape for managing and tracking software assets, analyzing vendor spend, proposing contract saving opportunities, identify risk areas, and managing supplier audits. This role will also need to be experienced with reading and accurately interpreting software contracts for license use and deployment rights.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, possess the ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, and be able to set and manage priorities. The individual must have strong data analytics experience to produce Client reports across the software landscape (licenses, discovery, SaaS, etc.)
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day Software Asset Management (SAM) process for a defined scope of publisher software
- Manage key relationships with peer roles within the organization, such as but not limited to Business Application Owners, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Service Catalog Managers, and Discovery Tools Owners
- Ensure the quality and completeness of software asset records within the SAM tool, including entitlement and discovery models
- Escalate any issues pertaining to SAM managed process with the SAM Team Lead
- Execute reconciliation by comparing entitlements with discovered software to determine license compliance (Effective License Position) for defined scope of publisher software
- Ensure the SAM system is accurately conducting reconciliation activities; troubleshoot and remediate where appropriate
- Gather and report on process metrics e.g., ELP, remediation opportunities, cost avoidance, application consolidation prospects and savings
- Analyze reconciliation reports to determine required actions to address software license non-compliance
- Analyze software usage data, and establish/refine reclamation policies for infrequently used software installations
- Review software license and maintenance contracts to identify risks, issues, and opportunities for peer stakeholders to remediate
- Collaborate with SAM Lead, peer stakeholders and Senior Management in responding to license compliance audits, both internal and external to the organization
- Properly plan for the renewal of software licenses
- Ability to document, maintain and help enforce SAM policy, processes, procedures
- Work on key Software Asset Management initiatives as defined by the Client.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-6 years of experience as a Software Asset Manager
- SAM tool experience is recommended e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow, Aspera etc.
- SAM certification is required e.g., CSAM, CSM, ASM
- Advanced Excel skills are required e.g., Pivot Tables, Conditional Formatting, VLookups etc.
- Intermediate software licensing knowledge of Tier 1 software publishers (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Adobe) and associated license metrics (e.g., per device/user, core, processor, PVU/RVU, LPAR, subscription etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven analytical and strong problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with an acute attention to detail
- Strong technical acumen
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
