SQL Developer – Asset Management

Cape Town preferred but remote options available

3 month extendable contract

Penta Consulting support technology resource solutions across South Africa. We’re working with a Leading Microsoft Partner that provides solutions across data & analytics and ai. Together we’re seeking a SQL Developer who has experience on Asset Management. Our project is with an investment company who has predominantly an on-prem environment meaning any experience in FSI will be helpful

Database Management and SQL Development

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and scripts to support asset management functions.
• Optimize SQL queries for performance, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security across the asset databases.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve SQL-related issues to maintain high system availability and performance.
• Work with IT and data teams to upgrade databases and implement new functionalities as needed.

Asset Data Management

• Manage and maintain asset data, including asset tracking, acquisition, disposal, and lifecycle data.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness in all asset management databases.
• Regularly audit asset records, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define asset data requirements and integrate data from various sources.

Data Analytics and Reporting

• Develop SQL-based reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track asset performance, utilization, and lifecycle metrics.
• Provide data insights to support asset valuation, risk assessment, and maintenance strategies.
• Generate ad-hoc analysis and data reports for asset management decision-making.
• Work with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to provide easy-to-understand insights for stakeholders.

Process Improvement and Optimization

• Identify and implement process improvements in data handling, asset tracking, and reporting.
• Collaborate with teams to streamline asset management workflows and ensure seamless data flow across systems.
• Develop documentation, best practices, and guidelines for SQL development and asset data management.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Support

• Act as a subject matter expert on asset data and SQL-related queries.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and operations, to support asset management needs.
• Train and support end-users in accessing and using asset data tools and reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in SQL development and database management.
• 2+ years of experience in asset management, finance, or data analytics.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or similar).
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and database optimization.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
• Familiarity with asset management software and ERP systems is preferred.

• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, data quality, and error-free reporting.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
