Job Description
Tax Associate
The Pay It Forward Company (PIF) and its affiliate companies are global experts in the areas of venture capital, private equity, capital markets, crypto currency, product development, and business process outsourcing. With presence in the U.S. and around the globe, the firm is rapidly growing and looking to expand its tax advisory team, whose focus is both compliance and advisory.
Position details: PIF is looking for a Tax Associate to join its accounting and finance team, reporting to the firm’s Tax Manager. This person will be a key contributor for information filings and tax matters; pertaining to both internal and client engagements, with an emphasis on family office, personal wealth, partnerships, corporations, international tax and digital assets.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, proactive, and experienced multi-tasker, who is willing to step in, roll up his/her sleeves and take on new challenges.
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance (Federal, State, Local)
· Prepare tax returns, including individual, trust, partnership, and corporate.
· Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal and international tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Tax Advisory
· Assist the tax manager in providing comprehensive tax advisory services to clients, including estate planning, gift tax planning, wealth transfer strategies, philanthropic planning, and intergenerational wealth preservation, tax optimization, and cross-border tax considerations.
· Stay updated on tax legislation and emerging trends affecting high net worth individuals, family offices, and corporations, and contribute to developing innovative solutions to address their evolving needs.
Client Management
· Support the Tax Manager as they develop and maintain strong relationships with the client as their trusted tax advisor.
· Understand clients’ unique tax situations, goals, and objectives to assist in providing tailored tax planning and advisory services.
· Proactively identify tax planning opportunities and recommend strategies to the Tax Manager to optimize clients’ tax positions.
· Monitor tax developments and communicate relevant updates to the Tax Manager.
Compensation: The compensation for this role is comprised of a base salary and revenue share for services performed for clients, including credit for origination.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- EA or CPA Certified
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax planning and compliance. Preferred practice areas in US partnership, S Corp (flow-through entities) and Individual Taxes.
- In-depth knowledge of international, federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of complex tax issues and strategies related to high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and corporations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Detail and deadline oriented with the ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills both with internal and external stakeholders.
- Business development acumen and ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
- Proficiency in tax software, specifically Intuit ProConnect, accounting systems, and Google Suite
- Partial availability during PST working hours.
Preferred:
· Prior Big 4, wealth manager, fund or family office experience.
· Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
· Experience managing projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and client management.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Excellent research and writing skills.
