1. Understanding the Project Requirements
- Stakeholder Interviews: Conduct meetings with stakeholders to understand the business goals, target audience, and specific project requirements.
- User Research: Identify and understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points of your target users through surveys, interviews, and usability testing.
2. Establishing the Brand Identity
- Brand Values and Mission: Define the core values and mission statement that will guide the visual and tonal elements of the brand.
- Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitors to understand industry standards and identify opportunities for differentiation.
3. Creating a Style Guide
A style guide ensures consistency across the entire product and makes it easier for team members to follow the same design principles.
Components of a Style Guide:
- Logo Usage: Guidelines for logo usage, including variations, clear space, and placement.
- Color Palette: Define primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, including hex codes, RGB values, and usage scenarios.
- Typography: Specify font families, sizes, weights, and styles for headings, body text, and other elements.
- Iconography: Design a consistent set of icons and provide usage guidelines.
- Imagery: Guidelines for using images, including style, tone, and quality.
- UI Elements: Standardize buttons, forms, navigation, cards, and other UI components.
- Tone of Voice: Define the brand’s voice and tone, including examples of preferred language and writing style.
4. Wireframing and Prototyping
- Sketching: Start with low-fidelity sketches to outline the basic structure and flow of the website.
- Wireframes: Create detailed wireframes to plan the layout and functionality of each page. Tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD can be used.
