How Is This Role Important to Our Work?
As a Tobacco Cessation Wellness Coach, coaches provide telephonic support to enrollees to reduce risk and promote healthy behaviors.
A Day In The Life
- Conducts member-focused interviews and coaching with moderate risk individuals.
- Utilizes motivational interviewing skills to reduce ambivalence, clarify goals, and support coaching timeframes.
- Supports processes driven by need, interest, and readiness of the member.
- Develops customized care plans that are tailored to individual enrollees.
- Provides telephonic member coaching.
- Works with other health and wellness staff members in a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
Required Skills And Experiences
- 3+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- Certification from an accredited professional wellness coach training program.
- Knowledge of specific disease lifestyle related topics such as smoking cessation, weight management, nutrition, and stress reduction.
- 1+ years working with Medicaid beneficiaries.
- Demonstrates interpersonal, communication, motivation, and listening skills.
- Ability to organize work effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity.
- Ability to perform using multiple computer applications.
- Familiarity using modern technology.
- Compassionate communicator.
- Ability to quickly gain customer trust and confidence.
Nice To Have
- Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in health-related field, Clinical Practice and/or Health Promotion.
