Born in Guernsey and raised with a focus on community, I left to go to University at 19.
From this experience I learned that language is a tool to be utilised and pushed as a material.
When I graduated in 2012, I won a grant to start a small press publishing company. Unfortunately the grant folded, but I'm still proud of being selected, and that experience led me to forge a career writing off of my own back.
Since then I've been plodding on with work and founding and working with a number of volunteer organisations that improve the lives of marginalised people.
These include;
Order of Perpetual Indulgence Bristol (LGBT+ community work)
Terrence Higgins Trust (UK National HIV charity)
ACT UP Bristol (Action group that supports the rights of people living with HIV)
PROMOTE Project (improve health services for men who sell sex)
Bristol Sex Workers Collective (this one should be fairly apparent...)
These groups have been a journey and have all informed each other along the list.
I highly value this work that I do for the community, albeit tireless and thankless, and seek to take on more writing clients to allow me to have a more flexible life and accommodate my community work.
