I am a tourism professional with over 10 years of experience in the tourism industry, particularly in an international travel agency and an international tour operator, both based in the Netherlands, as well as through teaching scuba diving in Mexico and the Netherlands. More broadly, I have travel and research experience in different parts of the world.
In terms of education, I hold a bachelor's degree in International Tourism Management from the University of Applied Sciences TIO and a master's degree in Tourism Destination Management from the NHTV University of Applied Sciences Breda, the Netherlands. As part of my studies, I conducted fieldwork and field research in Australia, Myanmar, and Bali, Indonesia. My master's degree dissertation was on the impact of Marine Based Tourism on the reef ecosystems of the Mesoamerican Barrier Ree in front of Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
I am particularly excited about opportunities to contribute to creating environmentally sustainable destinations as well as developing destination strategies to sustain local carrying capacity. I also have an affinity with volunteer work and am one of the founders of the International LEO Club of Rotterdam. I have participated and organised several events while being the chairperson and a member of the International Leo Club of Rotterdam. As an avid diver, and dive instructor, I have also volunteered with a coral restoration project in Akumal Mexico. I have recently started my own consultancy company.
