Responsibilities
About the role
The Sr Insurance Policy Analyst supports, organizes, and coordinates business activities related to policy and underwriting transactions and processes. This role’s primary responsibility is the review of specific auto insurance policies. This review will include but will not be limited to: coverage investigations, responding to underwriting alerts, making underwriting decisions, building and maintaining policy reports, process mapping, as well as opportunity analysis and communication. This role will partner with their peers in customer engagement, as well as collaborate with state management and product enablement teams.
In This Role You Will
- Investigate specific underwriting risk alerts and make policy level decisions
- Summarize trends from policy reviews with stakeholders, including but not limited to Customer Engagement, State Management, and Product
- Handle all underwriting referrals for complicated new business or renewal risks
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and collaborate with technology and other cross-functional partners to build and enhance our policy administration platform
- Regularly meet and collaborate with sales/service teams and operational leaders to learn and solution for process and underwriting pain points
- Evaluate, test, and run pilots on new strategic innovative business solutions to optimize and automate underwriting processes
- Provide workflow expertise for applications and processes
- Build reports to identify trends, communicate findings, and make recommendations to senior leadership that will enhance our product, underwriting guidelines, and sales and service processes
- Gather qualitative and quantitative analytical data to ensure our processes are working as designed
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), maintain a log of results, and conduct post-production reviews of newly deployed features
- Communicate and share information across the Insurance organization, tailoring messaging for audiences ranging from peers to Insurance leaders
- Complete policy reviews and certifications
Qualifications
What makes you a dream candidate?
- You have strong knowledge of P&C/Personal lines auto insurance underwriting concepts and principles
- You have advanced knowledge of relevant industry practices, auto insurance policy contracts, trends, and regulatory requirements as well as Guidewire PolicyCenter and BillingCenter
- You possess knowledge of data analytics tools such as, Databricks, Power BI, or SQL
- You are able to effectively present information to and field questions from internal stakeholders, including senior leadership
- You can think critically and have problem-solving skills along with strong attention to detail
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access
- You possess experience working with third-party vendors, working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) customer experiences, such as chat and self-service tools, and working with third-party reports
Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
- 4+ years of experience in Property & Casualty (preferably auto), which includes direct experience in underwriting, implementing underwriting processes and/or defining underwriting procedures required
- 4+ years of experience in presenting to management preferred
Licenses
- Active Personal Lines license required
- CPCU designation preferred
- Active P&C license preferred

Compensation: Competitive pay and bonus eligibility

Salary
The base salary range for this role is: USD $69,000.00 to $127,400.00. At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
