Who we need: We’re searching for an Android Developer to join our crew. As our ideal Android Developer, you will be comfortable stepping into an agile environment with peer reviews, an in-house design team, and a QA team supporting the projects and will collaborate with designers, developers, and product managers to reach an optimal outcome. As an Android Developer, you will work as a contributor to a tightly knit team focused on developing highly functional software solutions for our users, addressing real-world problems. What you’ll do: Assist in designing enhancements, updates, and programming changes for the Android application. Work with the team to analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution. Identify development opportunities based on experience, standards, and best practices to refactor legacy functionality and integrate new solutions. Create documentation as part of development efforts. Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to build great experiences. Consistently meet development culture guidelines and standards. Provide high quality work, including written and verbal communication, describing testing efforts and solutions to QA and product team. Align with company direction using domain knowledge to provide robust scalable solutions. Take on other tasks and duties as assigned.
As an Android Developer, you have: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 4+ years of native Android development experience. 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably with the majority being in Java and Kotlin. Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes. Familiarity with connecting Android applications to APIs. Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices. The ability to hit commitments according to agreed-upon timeframes. Experience providing clear and detailed communication of potential technical roadblocks. Experience in working on a team, in a regulated environment with shared code managed in multiple source control repositories. Experience working in an agile development environment. Must be eligible to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship.
We’ll give you extra credit for: Understanding of DevOps and deployment of Android applications. High-level exposure to tools such as App Center and Azure DevOps. Understanding of Android devices and memory management in relation to coding decisions. Exposure to UI regulations such as WCAG. A high level of comfort with ambiguity and openness to learning whatever it takes to solve new challenges. Caring about people and how the software you make can help them.
