Your opportunity:
We’re looking for a passionate PR and Media Specialist who thrives in an issues-rich environment. Reporting to the PR & Media Manager, you will help shape and deliver our public relations activities and media relations. This role offers great variety, from enhancing our brand through proactive storytelling and creative campaigns, to issues and emergency management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and delivery of proactive public relations activities
- Proactive and reactive media relations
- Issues management including providing advice to internal stakeholders
- Actively contributing to our emergency management team
- Participating in the on-call communications coordinator roster
- Maintaining an active network of media contacts
- Acting as a media spokesperson when required
- Preparation of daily media report
What we are looking for:
- Relevant experience in a senior media relations or journalism role with a large organisation, PR agency or media organisation
- Experience working within an issues-rich environment, implementing both proactive and reactive communications strategies
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills including the ability to manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Excellent writing skills and a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects to meet competing deadlines
- Related qualifications in PR, Communications or Journalism highly desirable
