Team / division overview

DWS Legal is a friendly, collegiate and dynamic team responsible for providing legal advice and support to DWS Group. The DWS Legal department is part of the CAO (Chief Administrative Office) division of DWS. The aim of the DWS Legal department, in partnership with the DWS business, is to protect the integrity and reputation of DWS Group, to manage legal risks and to assist DWS in its work as an international fiduciary asset manager. With the initial public offering (IPO) of DWS, the focus of services of the DWS Legal department has expanded continuously from its core asset management legal capabilities. As a full-time in-house lawyer you will work as part of your local team and the global DWS Legal department as a whole together with the business units and management of DWS Group.

Your responsibilities : –

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you will:
Establishment and maintenance of private and public funds

Advising on local legal and regulatory issues in relation to the structuring and distribution of funds in Asia-Pacific

Structuring and documentation (including transaction and disclosure documents) of funds

Leading negotiations with regulators, joint venture partners and investors of the funds

Identifying and managing legal, regulatory and reputational risks

Liaising with external counsel on drafting and structuring

Liaising with other internal infrastructure departments regionally and globally e.g. Compliance, Risk

Participating in the Global Practice Groups of the Legal Department

We are looking for : –

Law degree from reputable university

6-8 PQE, preferably in a common law jurisdiction

We are looking for a talented lawyer experienced in asset management matters who wishes to take on a varied portfolio across a wide range of legal and regulatory issues

Work experience in common law jurisdiction(s) of reputable law firm or asset management company/financial institution of international exposure and presence is desirable with extensive experience in the structuring and distribution of private and public fund products and structures and the negotiation of separately managed accounts

Experience with legal and regulatory issues (including cross border issues) across the Asia-Pacific region

Good knowledge of international legal and regulatory changes and initiatives (eg QFI, AIFMD, Volcker) is highly advantageous

Fluency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), with good drafting and communication skills, is essential
