Student Health Promotion Coordinator Training Program Developer Iii S | Michigan State University | United States
The Student Health Promotion Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion activities and initiatives that promote and improve the health and well-being of all Spartans, inclusive of students, faculty, staff, and campus communities. This position will work with a multidisciplinary team of colleagues in the department and the broader University, developing a comprehensive health promotion prevention strategy, with particular focus on the student population. The ideal candidate is experienced in health promotion and will have a passion for supporting systems-level campus well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Activities Support: Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion activities, initiatives, and campaigns, with a focus on promoting health equity and addressing social determinants of health.
Supervision: Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to population level generalist professional staff, students, and interns, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Assessment and Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to population health indicators, health disparities, and community needs assessments to inform strategic plans, activity planning and decision-making.
Strategic Planning: Help develop strategic plans and objectives for health promotion initiatives, aligned with organizational goals and priorities, and establish metrics to measure effectiveness and impact.
Community Engagement: Engage with community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations to identify priorities, mobilize resources, and foster collaboration in support of key performance indicators.
Grant Writing and Reporting: Assist in writing grant proposals, progress reports and other documents to secure funding and communicate program outcomes to stakeholders and funders.
Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy: Monitor campus, local, state, and federal policies related to population health; Serve as a leader and advocate for policies and initiatives that promote health promotion, equity, inclusivity and address the root causes of health disparities.
Training and Capacity Building: Provide training, educational programs, and technical assistance to the community on health promotion concepts, evidence-based practices, and program implementation strategies.
Stay Informed: Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and research findings in health promotion, population, and public health, with a specific lens on Faculty and Staff.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Systems development, Instructional Technology Systems, Instructional Science or a related educational programs development area, and/or a field related to the area of expertise; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the design, development and presentation of instructional programs using software or tools related to the educational programs being conducted; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in health promotion, social science or related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in health promotion; experience preparing and presenting educational materials; experience coordinating the administration of assessment and/or evaluation initiatives; experience with a tiered intervention strategy; experience working in a higher education setting. Certification as a wellness coach or completion of the certification within the first year.
