Senior Linux Engineer
IntePros is looking for a highly skilled Linux expert to support our oil & gas client local to the Denver area. This role focuses on advanced Linux deployments, Kafka, and container-based systems to ensure the seamless integration and operation of edge computing solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities and experience in adapting to dynamic field environments, coupled with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both field operations and senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage Linux-based systems (Redhat or Oracle) for edge computing environments, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Set up, configure, and maintain Apache Kafka clusters to handle real-time data streaming and processing requirements.
- Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications using technologies like Docker, ensuring scalable and efficient application delivery.
- Diagnose and address system issues, including Linux server problems, Kafka failures, and container deployment challenges, both remotely and on-site.
- Continuously monitor system performance and health, analyzing logs and metrics to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Work closely with field teams to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure that edge computing solutions meet operational requirements.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting procedures to support operational continuity and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure that Linux systems and containerized environments adhere to security best practices and policies, and implement necessary updates and patches to protect against vulnerabilities.
What are the top MUST HAVE skill sets (technical) that are required?
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with deploying, configuring, and managing Linux systems, particularly Redhat or Oracle, to ensure robust and efficient edge computing solutions.
- Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker, including creating, deploying, and managing containerized applications to ensure scalable and portable solutions.
- Exceptional ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across Linux systems, Kafka clusters, and container environments, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.
What are top three PREFERRED skill sets (technical)?
- Proficiency with Nginx for web serving, reverse proxying, and load balancing, which can enhance the performance and scalability of applications deployed in the edge computing environment.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Apache Kafka for managing real-time data streaming and processing, ensuring efficient and reliable data handling within the edge computing framework.
- Familiarity with InfluxDB for time-series data management, which is valuable for monitoring and analyzing performance metrics in real-time.
- Experience with MongoDB for handling NoSQL database requirements, supporting flexible and scalable data storage solutions that complement the edge computing infrastructure
