Senior Principal Software Engineer

Role

This position is part of a dynamic team at the forefront of prototyping infrastructure designs to support the next generation of cyber network operations. The role presents unique opportunities, such as regular customer interaction to iterate, streamline, and multiply platform capabilities to meet customer objectives of broad deployment and exceptional flexibility. You will be expected to provide architectural design leadership, systems design leadership, and elegant solutions to pressing operational challenges.

Responsibilities

• Participate and lead design and architecture of [insert system type(s)]
• Develop robust and high-quality software, putting the user’s requirements first and always driving towards a working product on-time
• Build and integrate automated testing into the product’s codebase
• Facilitate delivery and deployment of operational capabilities

Required Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (note, only US Citizens are eligible for security clearances)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (Degree requirement can be met with four years of hands-on experience in a Software Engineering or similar full-time position.)
• Ability to collaborate as a team but execute independently
• Thrives in a high-trust, adaptable team environment
• Familiar with contributing to or leading the design of new capabilities
• Expertise in at least one of the following languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C++, Go, Java, or equivalent high-level language.
• Proficient in designing and implementing network-based solutions
• Proficient troubleshooting network connectivity issues
• Proficient in Linux-based development environments (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat Enterprise Linux, or derivatives)
• Experience developing and troubleshooting Internet-disconnected systems
• Experience with Cross-Domain Solution (CDS) dataflows, schemas, and operations
• Experience with a version control code repository, such as GitLab

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the required qualifications)

• Current US TS/SCI security clearance
• Experience designing and implementing solutions on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• More than 5 years of industry experience as a software engineer or similar role in the Cyber Operation Domain
• Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSec, Nebula, OpenVPN, or Wireguard
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman)
• Familiarity with container orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s)
• Familiarity with CI/CD Pipeline-based GitOps deployments
• Familiarity with the Scaled Agile Framework
• Familiarity with Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) utilities
