About the Role

The Senior Accountant oversees comprehensive financial reporting processes, encompassing monthly and annual closings, GL account maintenance, and ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS for multi-entity consolidated financial statements. They manage diverse ad-hoc projects, systems, and processes, and supervise accounts payable and receivable operations, including data management, vendor payments, invoicing, and customer payment terms. Tax compliance responsibilities involve coordinating VAT filings in Canada, the UK, the US, and the EU with external agencies. Additionally, they lead team performance management and conduct financial planning and analysis to develop budgets, forecast cash needs, and project financial outcomes. Strategic planning involves collaborating with senior executives to align team priorities and resources with organizational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Reporting: Oversee financial close processes, maintain GL accounts, ensure GAAP/IFRS compliance, and handle multi-entity consolidated financials.
• Project, System, and Process Management: Plan, prioritize, and complete various ad-hoc projects, systems, and processes.
• Accounts Payable: Manage data, payroll processes, vendor payments, A/P software, supplier payment terms, and routine payment approvals.
• Accounts Receivable: Handle data management, invoicing, customer terms, and recording payments.
• Tax Compliance: Work with external agencies for VAT compliance in Canada, the UK, and the EU, use automated systems for US sales tax filing and assist in preparing annual income tax filings.
• Team Development & Management: Oversee staff performance, achieve team KPIs, and support team development and growth.
• FP&A: Create and manage budgets for each product line/brand, forecast cash requirements, and develop financial projections for new product lines.
• Strategic Planning: Assist senior executives in understanding, planning, and adjusting team priorities and resources to meet current and future organizational needs.

SOFTWARE TOOLS

• Inventory Tracking and Order Management Software: Experienced with DEAR, CIN7, or equivalent systems.
• Cloud-Based Accounting Software: Proficient in Xero or equivalent platforms.
• AP/AR Software: Familiar with Bill.com or equivalent applications.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel: Strong skills in using Excel for complex data analysis and reporting.

SKILLS SET

• Communication: Present financial reports to leadership.  
• Leadership: Quickly identify changes in trends, potential errors, and other data points needing further investigation. 
• Utilization of Technology: Implement and use software tools to create efficiencies, optimize processes, and improve capacity.  
• Sharp Attention to Detail: Quickly identify changes in trends, potential errors, and other critical data points requiring further investigation.

EXPERIENCE 

• Financial Reporting: Oversees monthly and annual financial closes, prepares reports for departmental managers, and manages multi-entity consolidation.
• E-Commerce Platforms: Experience with Shopify, Amazon, eBay, Facebook Shops, and similar platforms.
• Managed tax compliance for VAT and Sales Tax across the US, UK, Canada, and EU.Possess at least 10 years of overall work experience, with at least 3 years specifically in a similar role.
• People Management: 3-5 years of experience supervising teams of 2 or more team members.
