Principal DevOps Engineer

Job location : Remote / Work from home.

Position Responsibilities :

As a DevOps Engineer on the Software Engineering and Automation team, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to the modernization of binary artifact management and software distribution processes hybrid deployments using modern DevOps practices. This includes developing and maintaining package managers, enhancing software distribution workflows, implementing modern DevOps practices using binary artifact repositories, and modernizing CI/CD pipelines.

  • Skills required:

  • Hands-on experience with package managers (e.g., npm, Maven, PyPI) and binary artifact repositories (e.g., JFrog Artifactory, Nexus).
  • Expertise in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Strong experience with public cloud platforms like AWS and OCI.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
  • Infrastructure Provisioning Automation: Writting Terraform modules experience.
  • Config Management Automation: Ansible playbook / Coding Ansible (Tower).
  • Automation Orchestration: Jenkins.
  • Source Control: Azure DevOps / TFS / GIT.
  • Should have very good communication.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership in Binary Artifact Management:

  • Lead initiatives to modernize the management of binary artifacts for distribution.
  • Develop strategies for efficient and secure storage, versioning, and distribution of binary artifacts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement improvements in artifact management processes.

2. Package Management and Software Distribution:

  • Develop and maintain package management systems to streamline software distribution and updates.
  • Utilize and manage binary artifact repositories such as JFrog Artifactory or Nexus Repository to handle software packages.
  • Implement strategies for efficient software versioning, dependency management, and artifact storage.

3. CI/CD Pipeline Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, testing, and deployment of software packages.
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines with version control systems, build tools, and artifact repositories.
  • Ensure pipelines support automated testing, security scans, and compliance checks.

4. Cloud Deployment and Management:

  • Deploy and manage software packages and services in public cloud environments such as AWS and OCI.
  • Utilize cloud-native services and tools to enhance the performance and reliability of software delivery.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud deployments to ensure high availability and performance.

5. Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with software developers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure successful deployments.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.

6. Documentation and Process Improvement:

  • Document software distribution processes, CI/CD pipeline designs, and package management procedures.
  • Continuously improve automation scripts, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure the team utilizes the most effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Terraform Certified Associate, or similar.
