The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the PHMSA Vulnerability Tracker application, with a focus on front-end development using Angular and backend support. This role ensures that the application is scalable, secure, and aligned with PHMSA’s operational needs.

What You Will Do:

Develop and maintain the front-end and back-end components of the Vulnerability Tracker using Angular and other technologies.
Collaborate with the System Integration Specialist, Business Analyst, and other team members to ensure the application meets all requirements.
Implement best practices for secure and scalable software development within an Agile/DevOps framework.
Write and maintain detailed documentation for the application’s architecture, code, and dependencies.
Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance to ensure the application meets performance, security, and compliance standards.

What You Need:

Bachelor’s Degree or related experience.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. US Citizen or Green Card EAD is required.
10+ years of software development experience, with expertise in Angular and backend technologies. Strong knowledge of Agile development and DevOps practices. Proven experience in system design, development, and deployment in large-scale IT environments.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering secure and high-performing software solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with PHMSA’s mission and IT infrastructure.
Experience with AWS services, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and automated testing.
Experience working in government IT projects or other regulated industries.
