The Production Artist-Packaging is responsible for leading packaging file development for product innovations, line extensions and renovations. This role both supports Stella & Chewy’s growing product portfolio and ensures that packaging designs meet brand guidelines and production requirements. The focus of this role is to manage and develop all print ready mechanical files, building working files from the ground up when applicable, and optimizing existing SKUs to meet brand requirements. Reporting into the Creative Director, The Production Artist-Packaging works cross functionally with internal teams and external vendors to understand file build requirements, printing capabilities and seek necessary project follow ups.

Job Description: Under the guidance and direction of the Creative Director, you will take on a wide range of packaging responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Supporting the extension of existing product lines into additional flavors and package sizes, building print ready mechanical art files with provided content, copy decks, layer organization and printer notes
• Reviewing printer proofs and providing feedback to ensure accuracy and quality of final packaging product with print vendors
• Managing and owning die lines, internal packaging file organization and all mechanical builds
• Working in accordance to release waterfalls, managing timelines and reporting progress back to the Creative Director
• Breaking colors, preparing packaging working files for delivery to printers and communicating with release contacts effectively
• Seeking required follow ups on routing feedback to ensure alignment and clarity within packaging approvals and changes
• Involvement in pre-press discussions, drawdown preparation and approvals, working in accordance with printer specs
• Fulfilling internal requests to pull packaging files, generate PDFs or reference packaging information, reaching out to print partners when applicable
• Reporting project progress back to the Creative Director and offering ideas, solutions and alternatives to increase efficiency and improve process

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine art or related field
• 4+ years of Experience in an art production or complex file building environment (examples: pre-press file development, print house experience, developing trade-show / large scale graphics for print, working in packaging and dielines, back-end development etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across different departments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
