Director, Product Management – Parks & Recreation

The Director, Product Management oversees and manages the Parks & Rec Product team, ensuring that new and existing members of the Product team are supported and can grow. This position is responsible for product strategic direction, execution of product initiatives and goals, product shaping and delivery. The Product Director will facilitate effective communication within and across teams, monitor and improve processes and efficiency. Finally, this role requires a deep understanding of the market, our clients, our software, and the parks and recreation community.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Oversees the product strategy in alignment with company objectives
  • Accountable for the definition and tracking of Parks & Rec Product OKRs
  • Maintains a Product Management discipline roadmap to promote a culture of learning and growth for the Parks & Rec Product Team
  • Manage, mentor, support, and foster growth for the product team
  • Writes and administers performance reviews for skill improvement of product management team members.
  • Participate in Leadership Team Meetings to ensure org alignment across departments and products
  • Responsible for ensuring Product content is prepared for Internal/External Newsletters
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting Product content at Company Huddles and other org-wide meetings and events
  • Administers and leads the ShapeUp SDLC including the scheduling of key ceremonies
  • Facilitates hiring and onboarding activities for the Product Team
  • Communicates regularly with the VP of Product to identify resource/product gaps and opportunities
  • Informs budgeting process related to product spend in the areas of tooling, conference attendance, professional development materials, planned promotions, and salary action
  • Works collaboratively with Sales & Marketing and the VP of Product to inform and assist with executing the competitive analysis process, including win-loss analysis, SWOT and competitive review.
  • Works collaboratively with Engineering leaders to ensure alignment between product and technical strategies.
  • Ensure teams work efficiently to meet aggressive service/production level timelines, while still providing exceptional service and maintaining quality of work and work-life balance.
  • Create and deliver executive-level presentations to report results or propose changes in operations, products and programs.
  • Recognize and manage risk within the products.
  • Assist staff with problem resolution and issue escalation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years leading a diverse team including hiring, coaching and performance management preferred.
  • Experience analyzing product lines to maximize performance, penetration, and pricing.
  • Demonstrated ability to use industry/external trends, analytics, and market knowledge to continually measure, evaluate, and optimize products to drive product innovation, sales, and financial performance.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing third-party product or service solutions.
  • Ability to successfully drive projects, processes and change management concepts in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
  • Proficiency in creating and delivering a business plan and strategy that coincides with department and organizational directives.
  • Ability to foster internal and external business relationships to ensure alignment with business imperatives.
  • Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, product vertical operating areas, functions, products and services and the laws and regulations that apply within the vertical.
  • Outstanding presentation development and delivery skills.
