Infrastructure Engineer (Systems Focus)

Location: Based in Coventry, UK with the option for hybrid or remote working

Salary: £50,000-£60,000

Contract type: Full Time Permanent

Working hours: 40 hours a week – Can be flexible with start and finish times

About The Role

Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in Systems? We have an exciting new role for you to join a dynamic team and play a pivotal part in a major transformation. This position offers significant career growth and the opportunity to make a real impact.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing VMware, Citrix, and other virtualisation technologies, as well as Microsoft Enterprise server management (both on-premise and cloud-based tools). A strong focus on detail and forward-thinking innovation is essential, along with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex, secure systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage VMware virtualisation infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Configure and maintain Citrix environments, including XenApp and XenDesktop, to support seamless application delivery and desktop virtualisation.
  • Administer WatchGuard firewall solutions to safeguard network security and protect against cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess business requirements and develop scalable solutions that align with organisational goals.

Requirements

  • Ample experince in systems engineering, with expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Citrix products.
  • Proficiency in managing Cisco and HP routers, Watchguard firewalls, and network security principles would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong background in Microsoft Server environments and experience with WiFi and structured cabling projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with scripting (PowerShell or Python) for automation.
