Project Manager/Project Coordinator

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Project Manager/ Project Coordinator to lead a critical migration project within our client’s financial systems team. This role will be dedicated to the successful transition from Avalara to Vertex, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to our e-commerce operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, financial systems, and e-commerce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop and manage a detailed project plan for the migration from Avalara to Vertex.
  • Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including finance, IT, and e-commerce to ensure alignment and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and reporting.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, status updates, and reviews with stakeholders and executive sponsors.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges during the migration process.
  • Execution and Monitoring:
  • Oversee the execution of the migration plan, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress, performance, and quality, making adjustments as necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Documentation and Training:
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Develop and implement training programs for users on the new Vertex system.
  • Post-Migration Support:
  • Provide post-migration support and troubleshooting to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Conduct a post-implementation review to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably in financial systems or e-commerce.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects, preferably involving financial system migrations.
  • Strong understanding of Avalara and Vertex systems or similar tax compliance tools.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Certifications:
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is preferred but not required.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $ 68,422- $ 114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
