We’re a travel startup, building products in travel. Our first product is travel eSIM and we want to make eSIMs a the new normal for travelers. We are revolutionising the travel experience with our cutting-edge eSIM technology. We’re eliminating the hassle of physical SIM cards and purchase of expensive airport sims, giving travelers seamless connectivity wherever they roam at affordable prices with lots of data.

India is calling, and we need YOU to lead the charge!

This ain’t an average corporate gig. We’re looking for an entrepreneur, a networker, a deal-maker extraordinaire to blow up our presence in India. You’ll be the face of Journey, building awesome partnerships and spreading the Journey eSIM love. We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Business Development Manager/ New Venture Lead to spearhead our expansion in India.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for India: Conduct thorough market research to identify key trends, opportunities, and challenges in the Indian travel industry.
  • Define clear goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for business growth.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans to achieve targets, including sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and partnership programs.

  • Identify and build strategic partnerships: Identify, target, and establish relationships with key players in the travel industry, including travel agents, online travel agencies (OTAs), tour operators, and travel technology providers.
  • Negotiate and secure mutually beneficial partnership agreements that drive customer acquisition, revenue growth, and brand awareness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners to ensure long-term collaboration and success.

  • Explore new business opportunities:Continuously explore new avenues for growth and partnerships within the travel industry and related verticals.
  • Identify potential opportunities to expand our product offerings or target new customer segments.
  • Analyze and evaluate the feasibility of new business ventures and make recommendations to the leadership team.

  • Represent the company at industry events:Attend relevant industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote our brand and generate leads.
  • Build relationships with industry professionals and stay abreast of the latest trends and developments.

  • Manage and track business performance:Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards goals and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on business performance, including sales figures, partnership activities, and market insights.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, and make recommendations for adjustments to the business strategy.

  • Build and manage a high-performing team (future responsibility): As the business grows, you will be responsible for building and managing a team of business development professionals.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in entrepreneurship, business development or at selling.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in English
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with digital tools and platforms.

Bonus Points:

  • Existing network of contacts in the Indian travel industry.
  • MBA or other relevant postgraduate degree.

What You’ll Do (Specific Actions)

  • First 15 Days: Immerse yourself in the Indian travel market, conduct extensive research, and map out key players and potential partners. Start building relationships with travel agents and OTAs.
  • First 30 Days: Secure initial partnerships and pilot programs. Refine your business development strategy based on early learnings.
  • First 45 Days: Achieve significant traction in customer acquisition and revenue generation. Begin exploring new business opportunities and expanding your network.
