Managed Services Project Manager

Position Overview

This is a 100% remote work environment. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects for clients, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. This role involves coordinating internal resources and third-party contractors, managing client expectations, and ensuring the successful execution of IT projects that align with the managed service provider’s (MSP) standards. The Project Manager will also identify potential risks, monitor project performance, and maintain constant communication with clients and the internal team.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management:

  • Effectively lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure clear communication, task delegation, and collaboration, driving successful project outcomes and maintaining high team morale.
  • Function as an escalation point of contact and work with the technicians towards resolution.
  • Develop and engage the service team through training, coaching and mentorship to maximize staff utilization.
  • Work with and mentor Service Coordinator

Project Planning And Execution

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and budgets.

Client Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status, resolving concerns, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.

Coordination With Teams

  • Work closely with technical teams, account managers, and third-party vendors to deliver projects in line with agreed service levels.
  • Provide backup coverage for other service managers (i.e., Managed Security Service Manager)

Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact project delivery, ensuring minimal disruption to the client.

Scope Management

  • Ensure that project scope is well-defined and managed, adjusting where necessary while keeping the client informed of any changes.

Reporting And Documentation

  • Provide clear and timely project documentation and reporting for internal stakeholders and clients.

Budget And Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently, and project costs are monitored throughout.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with industry best practices and client requirements.

Post-Project Review

  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement in future projects.

Required Skills And Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Management, or a related field .

Technical Expertise

  • PMP, CompTIA Project+ or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Experience working within service ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask, etc.).

Experience

  • 10+ years of consulting and/or project management experience within an MSP/MSSP or IT services environment. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity and service delivery processes.
  • 5+ years of management experience

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to clients and team members
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello)
  • Knowledge of managed services operations and ITIL processes
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
