The Role

The Health and Safety Senior Manager will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the company’s policies and procedures across the group, with an initial focus on ORS. The successful candidate will ensure consistent compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and foster a culture of Health and safety. This position will require a proactive individual who can work closely with multiple departments to manage risk, drive continuous improvement in Health and Safety performance, and maintain ORS’s commitment to a safe working environment. The role offers flexibility and can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the needs of the candidate and ORS.

The Team

ORS has a dedicated multidisciplinary team that demonstrates our commitment to comprehensive service provision. The ORS team consists of experienced and dynamic environmental scientists & engineers dedicated to providing environmental management services to our clients. We currently require a Senior Health & Safety Manager to lead, develop and monitor the development and implementation health and safety practices and ensure compliance across the organisation.

Skills And Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 45001 and other relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety policies and management systems in a multidisciplinary consultancy.
  • Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing health and safety committees and coordinating meetings with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent risk assessment and management skills, including the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks across various projects and sites.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation and reporting, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior leadership and collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to foster a positive safety culture, driving continuous improvement and encouraging proactive behaviours.
  • Experience in delivering EHS training and development programs, including safety inductions for new employees.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and environmental management practices, particularly around waste reduction, resource efficiency, and pollution prevention.
  • Auditing and inspection experience, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
