Senior Android Software Engineer (Remote)

Our client is an online travel company for consumers and small business travelers. They own numerous well-known online marketplaces for vacation rentals. Their mission is to connect homeowners and property managers with travelers who seek the space, value, and amenities of vacation rental homes and hotels. The sites have a selection of properties worldwide with detailed descriptions, photos, a list of amenities, and nearby attractions.

The team is located in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and the US. More than 100 developers offer their services all over Europe and the United States. We have 30+ pod teams working with Kotlin, Java, React, iOS, and Android, incrementally delivering functionality to the client. We have new global features every 6 months.

IF YOU ARE

• Possessing at least 5 years of commercial experience in Android Development using Kotlin and Java
• Proficient in architectural and design patterns in Android (MVP vs MVVM), Android SDK, clean architecture, and SOLID principles
• Experienced in Android Jetpack Architecture Components: Live Data, Lifecycles, View Model, Navigation, Room
• Familiar with Git, Unit Testing, Jenkins
• Good at analyzing, clarifying, and eliciting requirements, designing components, and documents using UML
• A proactive person with developed flexibility and cooperative teamwork
• Understand multi-threading, concurrent programming, and performance optimization
• Advocating for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability)
• Communicate in English fluently to cover project needs
• Skilled in GraphQL (would be a plus)

• Own the development and quality of features being implemented on the customer’s Android app
• Provide and participate in code reviews to assess overcall code quality and flexibility, and the application of best object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques
• Drive CI/CD in our software development process within the Agile development team
• Write automated unit, system, and acceptance tests as appropriate to support our CI pipelines
• Create top solutions for vacation rentals with a unified shared UI approach
• Conduct pull request reviews for the shopping portfolio which include different modules and services
• Own the quality code through testing practices
• Strive for optimum organizational efficiency by applying systems thinking across boundaries and recommending policies/processes
