Job Title: Principal Structural Engineer / Technologist

Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer / Technologist to join our client’s expanding team. This role involves working on both local and international projects, providing advanced structural engineering services, including industrial, commercial, and civil infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and demonstrate a collaborative approach, capable of overseeing junior engineers, liaising with clients, and driving project success.

Our client is a leading engineering consultancy dedicated to delivering innovative structural solutions for public, private, and industrial infrastructure projects. With a presence in South Africa and projects expanding globally, they specialize in steel and reinforced concrete structures, renewable energy, and civil engineering elements.

Availability:

• This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, with flexibility for remote work.
• Candidates must be available during South African business hours (8 AM to 6 PM).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and manage civil and structural infrastructure projects, including steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Deliver detailed reports, engineering drawings, and construction documents.
• Oversee project phases, deliverable timelines, and ensure high-quality project performance.
• Supervise junior engineers, graduates, and CAD technicians.
• Liaise with clients, manage contract administration, and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil or structural engineering.
• Bachelor of Science, Engineering or Technology degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or ability to register with assistance provided by the company.
• Proficiency in structural design using 3D CAD/Modeling software (Autodesk Revit proficiency is an advantage).
• Experience in Finite Element Analysis software (e.g., Dlubal, Nastran) and fatigue design application.
• Prior site experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer is required.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple project resources effectively.
• Strong command of English, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Language Requirements:

• English proficiency at a C1 level or higher. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with international clients and team members.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in wind turbine design is an advantage.
• Experience in renewable energy structures or water-retaining structures will be beneficial.
