What you’ll be doing…
Verizon is a Fortune 500 company and takes pride in servicing 99% of Fortune 500 companies as well as Government Agencies around the world. In Canberra, Australia we run two key business units – the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC) and Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC), providing services to customers who rely on Verizon to provide 24×7 security analytics of their critical infrastructure.
A key part of our ASOC capability comes from our Tier 2 Analysts, who undertake a critical role in securing our customers, and have developed cyber security expertise over a number of years. You will come from an Enterprise or Government Security role and be adept working in a high tempo team-based environment using common SIEM platforms. This role requires you to participate in a 24×7 work roster, with shift loading included.
Responsibilities:
Managing incidents through lifecycle in the SIEM platform.
Researching escalations, gathering context and providing direction to Tier 1 Analysts.
Making recommendations to senior analysts on action plans for incidents.
Taking a lead role in critical incident handling alongside incident response personnel.
Remediating recurring incidents via problem management processes.
Continual service improvement and assisting in detection development.

You’re a sought-after team member that thrives in a dynamic work environment.
You’ll need to have:
Associate degree or two or more years of relevant working experience.
Two or more years of relevant work experience in a Security Operations Centre environment.
Experience in threat detection, security monitoring, and incident response.
Experience in SIEM platform – SPLUNK or Sentinel.
Experience with Linux, Windows, EDR/XDR platform, and security network and log analysis.
Understanding of security framework.
A current AUS NV1 security clearance.
Willingness to work on a 24×7 shifting schedule.
Even better if you have one or more of the following…
Bachelors/Master Degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
Proficiency in both technical analysis and communication of findings
One or more relevant Cybersecurity industry certifications.
Understanding of latest Cybersecurity trends.
