About The Team

The UX Foundation team is responsible for developing and maintaining the paved path for designing and building predictable, trustworthy, accessible, and delightful user experiences for millions of Etsy buyers and sellers around the world.

We craft the patterns, guidelines, styles, and components that form the backbone of Etsy’s customer experience. Our product teams rely on Etsy’s mature design system, “Collage,” to consistently build beautiful, inclusive, accessible, and engaging products for both buyers and sellers. In addition, we create tools, resources, and training to support teams in adopting design and development best practices and accessibility standards.

About The Role

We are looking for a skilled Product Designer to join the UX Foundations team. In this production-focused role, you will work hands-on in Figma to update and standardize design files, creating reusable templates, starter screens, and components to streamline workflows and ensure consistency across key surfaces.

You will optimize the way Etsy’s product designers work by leveraging Figma features like auto layout and variables to build high-quality starter templates used across the organization. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in driving the adoption and consistent application of Etsy’s design system across core screens and experiences.

Your contributions will help establish consistency across core experiences, enabling product teams to deliver high-quality designs efficiently and effectively.

Day to day, it looks like:

• Auditing and organizing existing Figma files to identify opportunities for template and component reuse across core screens for Buyer and Seller experiences.
• Building a library of reusable starter templates, screens, and and components in Figma to optimize workflow for product design teams
• Driving the consistent use and application of Etsy’s design system and common design patterns across core screens and experiences

• Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings

Requirements

Must-Haves

• 5+ years experience as a product designer
• Mastery of Figma including autolayout, constraints, components, and variables
• Demonstrated experience building reusable templates and components in Figma to optimize workflow for product design teams
• Strong visual and interaction design skills with a eye for pixel perfect detail

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with and contributing to design systems
• Demonstrated experience working across web and native (Android and iOS) platforms

Details/Notes

• This request will provide general project support
• This role is open to all work modes.
• Preferred timezones PST, CST or EST to align with majority of UX Foundation and surface teams
• This role may extend, depending on the needs of the team, budget availability, and contractor performance
• The interview process for this role will be: 30 min manager screen, followed by a 30-60min case study
