Key Responsibilities
- Drive energy efficiency goals by aiming for a minimum 3% reduction in energy use intensity and a 2% reduction in water consumption intensity annually.
- Formulate and execute a comprehensive Energy Plan and Implementation Strategy.
- Analyze data from spreadsheets, Advanced Meter Data, and utility billing systems to identify discrepancies in energy consumption.
- Establish and nurture effective relationships with Facility Managers and Building Energy Monitors.
- Enhance facility operations to lower utility costs by pinpointing areas for significant energy savings.
- Create and uphold an energy awareness program to promote incentives and suggestions.
- Assist in utility demand reduction efforts to optimize cost avoidance.
- Conduct energy audits and support renewable energy initiatives.
- Identify and propose potential energy projects and programs.
- Facilitate the implementation of energy projects and recommend operational and maintenance improvements.
- Collaborate in achieving DOD’s climate strategy objectives, including projects like Microgrids and Integrated Energy and Water Plans (IEWP).
Required Skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic software applications.
- Analytical skills for interpreting energy consumption data and detecting anomalies.
- Project management expertise with a focus on implementing energy efficiency measures.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive and adept at leading initiatives related to facility maintenance, repair, and construction. This includes providing insightful design review feedback, project management assistance, and ensuring the integration of energy efficiency measures across all operations.
Basic Requirements
- Willingness to relocate to designated locations.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification or the willingness to acquire it within 8 months of employment (training and testing costs covered).
- Relevant experience can include:
- A four-year degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years in energy management;
- An Environmental Science, business, or related degree with 8 years of energy management experience;
- A two-year technical degree with at least 10 years in energy management;
- 12 years of experience in energy management without a degree.
Other Desirable Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge, especially in HVAC systems.
- Additional energy certifications beyond CEM.
- Military experience is beneficial but not a requirement.
Compensation And Benefits
The salary range for this role is competitive, ranging from (95,000 to )130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
