Job Summary

Edcetera is looking for a highly organized, passionate and dedicated Online Community and Platform Manager to foster an engaging, positive, and productive environment for our community members. Additionally, this role will involve maintaining and optimizing our online platform to ensure a seamless and user-friendly experience.  This role will be the primary point of contact for our online community. Daily, the role engages with users, moderates discussions, and ensures the community remains a safe, welcoming, and vibrant space. Additionally, the position oversees the maintenance and improvement of the community platform, working closely with the development and support teams to address technical issues, updates, and feature enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Community Management:

  • Foster and nurture an active, engaged, and respectful online community focused on mentorship and education.
  • Monitor discussions across multiple channels (forums, social media, chat rooms, etc.) to ensure they remain positive. educational, and on-topic.
  • Actively engage with members, answer questions, and provide support when needed.
  • Organize and execute community-driven events, contests, activations, and initiatives that drive engagement and growth.
  • Serve as the voice of the community internally, sharing feedback, insights, and trends with relevant teams to improve products and services.
  • Develop and maintain forum guidelines, ensuring they are enforced fairly and consistently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise within the community.

Platform Maintenance:

  • Drives rollouts of new community features (such as gamification, new discussion groups, or new content) as identified by user feedback.
  • Oversee the daily operation and health of the community platform, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience.
  • Work closely with technical teams to identify and resolve bugs, issues, and downtime.
  • Regularly monitor platform analytics to ensure optimal performance and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and execute platform updates, including feature rollouts, user interface improvements, and performance optimizations.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for platform improvements based on community needs and technical feasibility.
  • Conduct user training and create documentation to help community members navigate and utilize platform features effectively.

Content and Reporting:

  • Create and manage content for community platforms, including blog posts, newsletters, FAQs, and user guides.
  • Track and report on community health metrics, engagement levels, and platform performance.
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on community growth, engagement trends, and platform issues or improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, computer science or business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Community Platform Manager or in a similar role, preferably in Saas and/or Adult Education.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with platform maintenance and basic technical troubleshooting (preferably with community management software, forums, and online platforms).
  • Ability to leverage influence to drive results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, etc.) to monitor user engagement and platform performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
  • Basic understanding of website management and content management systems (CMS).
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Passion for building online communities and creating exceptional user experiences.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in Asana, our project management software.
  • Experience with community platforms such as Hivebrite.
  • Experience with web development or technical background (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) is a plus.
  • Previous experience with content creation (writing, video, etc.) and social media management.

Compensation

  • Salary starts at $105,000, commensurate with experience
