Manager Of Operations | Keypoint Law | Australia

  • Join one of Australia’s most exciting law firms
  • Play a lead role in the firm’s scale-up
  • A role with significant potential to make an impact on the wider legal profession

The opportunity

10 years ago, Keypoint was a start-up law firm with a disruptive business model, challenging how law firms operate. Fast-forward to today, and we are now one of the country’s fastest-growing firms, with over 80 senior lawyers working across 25 areas of law in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. A multi-award-winning firm, Keypoint’s mission is to rehumanise the practise of law, and in doing so, provide outstanding legal services to clients.

Keypoint Law is seeking a highly personable and ambitious professional to join our firm as our Manager of Operations, based in the Sydney CBD, on a full-time basis.

The Manager of Operations is responsible for overseeing the delivery, and day-to-day operations, of a range of support functions within our firm. The role works closely with the firm’s management to align operational performance with the firm’s strategic goals and drive business results.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

1) Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction to, and management of, the firm’s support services; primarily:

  • Paralegal Support

Responsible for the firm’s paralegal support team. This involves recruiting paralegals, and managing workflow, performance, rostering, resourcing and professional development.

  • Information Technology

Responsible for the firm’s IT systems, end-user support and on-boarding – with the aid and expertise of the firm’s external IT services provider.

  • Facilities Management

Responsible for the firm’s offices. This includes negotiating vendor agreements, relationship management, day-to-day office management and ensuring the firm’s physical environment is safe, functional, and conducive to productive work.

  • Administration

Responsible for implementing operations policies and procedures, and general administration.

2) Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the firm’s lawyers, staff, clients, vendors, and other relevant parties. Collaborate with the firm’s leadership to enhance service delivery and satisfaction.

3)Risk Management and compliance: Identify and manage risks, and ensure compliance, across aspects of the firm’s operations which fall within this role.

The Manager of Operations plays an important part in the development and management of our firm and is the key ‘port of call’ for our lawyers’ support needs.

Of equal importance, is the role this position plays in building esprit de corps, and ensuring a warm and collaborative environment for all members of our team.

The role reports to the firm’s CEO.

About you

This position could suit a variety of professional backgrounds. You could be:

– A lawyer who is looking to move into an operational role (candidates in this category are encouraged);

– A practice manager looking for a broader role and to become centrally involved in the strategy, management, and building of a firm;

– An operations professional with a law background.

We’re primarily interested in attracting a fabulous person to the firm with an emphasis on the following personal qualities:

– A kind, personable individual with great people skills;

– High levels of motivation and ambition;

– A very strong customer service ethic;

– An ability to build and nurture culture;

– Business minded – someone who can help to build an amazing business; and

Specific attributes, such as being IT savvy and having a customer or client service background, would be a significant advantage. At the same time, we’re hiring for personal qualities, aptitude, ambition, motivation, ability to adapt and, most importantly, strong personal skills.
